Ms. Sanjana Shrestha, READ Nepal Country Director Sanjana has been with READ Nepal for six years and has served as
Country Director since January 2009. Under her leadership READ has been the driving force behind the creation
of the NCLA (Nepal Community Library Association) in 2009 to help READ Centers
advocate and lobby for their rights. The NCLA is the first organization for
libraries in Nepal.
Sanjana’s expertise and facilitation skills have been critical in setting up
the READ program in India
and now Bhutan.
In 2009 Sanjana attended the Gates Foundation Global Libraries Peer Learning
Meeting in Xalapa, Mexico. Prior to
READ, Sanjana was a Project Coordinator and researcher with the Manushi for
Sustainable Development organization in Nepal. Her academic background
includes both Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in Humanities and Social
Science from Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu. Ms.
Shrestha was also involved in project evaluation work in various
organizations such as Save the Children US, Winrock International and German
Technical Cooperation. She was the International Advisory Board
Member for the Access to Learning Award of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Ms. Shrestha served as a volunteer in a variety of capacities for the Cancer Care Center at Om Hospital in Kathmandu.
Ms. Pratima Sharma, Program Officer Ms. Pratima Sharma serves as a Training Officer for READ Nepal. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Law and Masters Degree in Sociology from Tribhuvan University. Ms. Sharma has worked for a variety of organizations that focus on education, good governance, life skills based sexual and reproductive health education, institutional development, early childhood development, youth and women's empowerment and training design and delivery. She has developed curriculum and training materials, information Education Communication/Behavioral Change Communication materials for many different non-profit organizations, including Pact international, WOREC and Samjhauta Nepal.
Mr. Lava Thapa, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Mr. Lava Thapa serves as the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer for READ Nepal. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Agriculture and a Masters Degree in Sociology from Tribhuvan University. Mr. Thapa also has a Masters in Development studies from the Institute Social Studies in the Netherlands. Mr. Thapa has worked on numerous evaluation projects at the Asian Development Bank, and conducted research on a variety of agricultural and rural development topics. Mr. Thapa has worked as a project manager in various international development organisations. He has written and edited numerous papers on socio-economics and agriculture, and presented many papers at professional conferences.
Ms. Abha Gautam, Finance Coordinator Ms. Abha Gautam is the Administration Finance Coordinator. Her duties include all aspects of bookkeeping, and maintenance of records for staff, volunteers, office supplies, and library supplies. In addition, Ms. Gautam visits each new center to provide training in the financial policies and bookkeeping procedures of READ.
Mr. Chin Kaji Shrestha, Field Officer Mr. Chin Kaji Shrestha served as a volunteer in the Kathmandu office for over two years before becoming Field Coordinator in December of 2000. Now he is serving as a Field Officer for READ Nepal. More than half of Mr. Shrestha's time is spent in the field monitoring and supervising sites and providing technical assistance and training to librarians.
Mr. Raju Babu Shrestha, Field Officer Mr. Raju Shrestha served as a volunteer in the Kathmandu office for almost two years before becoming Assistant Field Coordinator in January of 2004. His duties include providing field technical support, training, monitoring and supervision to READ centers. Mr. Shrestha holds a B.A. degree and is working on a Masters Degree in Sociology. Now he is serving as Field Officer for READ Nepal.
Ms. Pushpa Bhadel, Admin & Program Coordinator Ms. Pushpa Bhadel serves at the Program Support Coordinator. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Business from Tribhuwan University and a Masters in Rural Development and Gender Studies from Purbanchal University in Nepal. Ms. Bhadel has written extensively on international development and made presentations at numerous conferences on a variety of topics concerning rural & international development and gender studies.
Mr.
Parshu Ram Pandey, Finance Officer
Mr. Parshu Ram Pandey is a Finance Officer for
READ Nepal. He has a graduate degree in Management and has also majored in Accounting and Tax Principles. Mr. Pandey is has extensive knowledge in the accounting of Private Company's, NGO's and INGO's, as well as computer software and hardware. Before joining READ
Nepal, he worked for the Practical Action Nepal Office (a UK based charity
organization).
Ms.
Sharada Maharjan, Finance Assistant
Ms. Sharada
Maharjan is a Finance Assistant. She is responsible for maintaining READ Nepal's financial and accounting
needs, as well as assisting the Finance Officer. She holds a Bachelor of Science in
Management (BBS) and previously volunteered as a Financial and Administrative
Assistant.
Ms. Devi Maya Rai, Office Aid Ms. Devi Maya Rai is the Office Aid. She handles miscellaneous duties to ensure the smooth operation of the office. |
