Ms. Thinley Choden, READ Bhutan Country Director Thinley joined READ in December 2008 and has focused on
traversing the countryside spreading the word to rural communities about the
READ model. She has been working with potential communities on proposal-writing,
seeking viable business ventures and creating exciting partnerships for
environmentally sustainable centers based on traditional Buddhist principles
for architecture and design. Thinley has
also been working closely with the Government Ministries in Bhutan to
ensure successful programs on literacy, agriculture and early childhood
development. Ms. Choden served as a program officer for the United Nations
World Food Program, a consultant for the Bhutan Foundation, and a research
assistant for the American Enterprise Institute. She holds a bachelors degree
in economics from Beloit College in Wisconsin,
and also has a master’s in public administration from University
of Hawaii at Manoa as a East-West Center degree fellow.
Mr. Tshering Tenzin, Field Coordinator
Mr.
Tshering Tenzin is the field coordinator for READ Bhutan. He graduated
with a Bachelors in Arts in Sociology and Educational Psychology from
North East Hill Univerity, India. Before joining the READ family he was
the Head of Administration and the Human Resource Division for the
National Handicrafts Emporium He firmly believes that true prosperity
begins from a sound education system at the grassroots level, and
stresses that the state of the communities reflect the state of the
nation. He speaks major local dialects and has good writing and
translation skills in both English and Dzongkha.
