Testimonials

After exploring many countries and witnessing first hand the situations that make all of us stop and wonder how we can "help", I was extremely impressed with the methodology READ Nepal utilizes to unite an entire community both socially and financially using the library as a central hub. My trip was an opportunity to learn about and share on a common basis, what we all require- a way to educate our children and improve our circumstances as individuals and members of a community. It was an incredible chance to relate to people in a way that is not normally afforded a tourist.   This trip should be on every "socially conscious" traveler's agenda.

"I was so fortunate as to travel in February 2008 to Nepal with Toni Neubauer, Carol Erickson, and board member Mal Warwick. I visited three libraries: Laxmi Memorial Library in the Syangja District, Central Nepal; Rameshor Labara in the Terai area, and Jhuwani Community Library the Chitwan District, South Central Nepal. Each was different, in terms of size, age, and demographics. Yet all shared such a powerful influence on their communities, educating, inspiring, and providing much needed services that would otherwise be unavailable. The sustainability of READ's model and the empowerment the libraries provide to member of its community ensures that these benefits will continue to endure. I was truly inspired."
