Tina Sciabica, Executive Director
Tina joined READ Global in
March 2010 and is focusing her efforts on fundraising, outreach, partnerships
and strategic planning. Tina started her
career as a commercial litigator in Chicago.
After leaving the practice, Tina started her own business and also began
volunteering as one of the earliest Chapter Leaders for an international
non-profit called Room to Read (RTR). Tina organized RTR fund-raising
events, built and managed a team of volunteers, and raised awareness about
RTR. While traveling to Cambodia,
India, Nepal, and Vietnam to visit RTR projects, Tina
observed the devastating effects that industrialization and urban migration can
have in developing countries. Soon after, Tina moved to the nonprofit
sector as the Deputy Director of Social Venture Network (SVN), a peer-to-peer
network of 500+ social entrepreneurs who are working together to create a more
just and sustainable economy. At SVN, Tina connected with hundreds of
change-makers and was able to witness first-hand the power of business to
alleviate poverty and create positive change. Tina is eager to apply her
knowledge of sustainable business practices as READ Global's Executive
Director. Tina received a BS in Investment Finance from the University of Illinois
(Urbana-Champaign) and a Juris Doctor from Indiana University School of Law (Bloomington).
