Do you give grants to non-profits?
No. READ is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, not a foundation. READ Global raises funds in the USA and abroad to specifically support its READ projects in Asia.
How is my donation being spent?
Funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is currently covering all of READ's general operating costs such as salaries and rent. This means that 100% of your donation is spent on program activities!
How can I get a READ Community Library and Resource Ccenter in my village?
If you are interested in building a READ Center in your village in Nepal, India or Bhutan, please contact us and we can direct you to the local READ office in your country. The local READ office can explain the steps for submitting a proposal from your community.
Would READ consider expanding its work to my country?
READ is currently focusing its expansion on countries in Asia and is interested in meeting potential partners from that region. We hope to expand to other areas of the world in the upcoming years. To read more about our expansion plan, click here.
Can I volunteer for READ in the USA?
We are always looking for people interested in becoming a READ Ambassador. READ Ambassadors spread the word about READ to their friends and family and hold informational fundraising events in their towns. For more information, please contact us or visit our What You Can Do Page.
Can I volunteer for READ in Asia?
Because READ focuses on grassroots participation by the local villagers, it is important that the communities build and run READ Centers on their own, fostering a sense of responsibility and ownership. It is therefore very difficult to accommodate short term volunteers. However, we encourage travelers to visit the READ Centers to witness the impact in the communities first hand.
Can I visit a READ Center?
Yes! Our partner, Myths and Mountains, organizes trips to READ Centers every year. This is an amazing opportunity to get an inside glimpse at READ in action and travel with READ founder, Dr. Antonia Neubauer, as an honored guest - not regular tourist. For more information, visit our Trip Page.
Can I send books or materials to the Centers?
READ works with local writers, printers and publishers to get the materials for its Centers, thereby supporting the local economy and supplying materials in the local language. We do not ship books from the USA.
