Bridging the gap

In Tukche, Nepal, the sustaining enterprise for the Thak Community Library and Resource Center is a furniture factory that uses wood from a local forest to create hand-made furnishings. One of the most successful businesses seeded by READ, the factory does more than sustain the operations of the center. It has generated enough additional income to build a bridge over the Kali Gandaki River. Today, children are able to attend school on the other side of the river and more villagers have access to the Thak READ Center. This bridge has forever transformed the Tukche community.
