READ has been working in rural villages in Nepal since 1991. The 100% success of its READ Centers—lead to READ Global—expanding to India in 2007 and Bhutan in 2008.
The lack of educational, economic, and social resources in rural villages is the single most important root cause of poverty and political instability. By providing villagers with access to education, technology, vocational training, and programs covering a wide range of locally relevant needs, READ produces literate and educated individuals with the means to raise themselves out of poverty without having to leave their rural lives.
