Your Legacy, Their Future
By including a gift to READ Global in your will, you can help us continue our mission to create self-sustaining and community-led library and resource centers that serve as a foundational platform for unlocking a community’s social and economic potential for generations to come.
With a planned gift you can:
- Build a new READ Center in one of the many communities motivated to create their own enduring, inclusive community hub.
- Enhance the work of READ overall, or your favorite country or program
- Create or support awards that motivate READ Centers to meet the most pressing needs of their communities
- Support READ’s planning for the future and pursuing excellence for future generations
Why Give to READ Global
READ’s unique self-sustaining model not only supports those in need but also empowers communities, families, and individuals to develop the skills, networks, and confidence to address their most pressing challenges and create dignified, fulfilling futures. Currently, more than 2 million people across South Asia have access to a READ Center, opening a world of opportunity. You can help us reach even more communities.
- Cultivation of Agency- We empower communities to solve their own problems through collective effort and shared commitment
- Inclusive reach- All community members engage and benefit, particularly those most marginalized, not just those easiest to reach
- Systemic change- READ Centers address the root causes of marginalization leading to changes in policies, structures, and practices
- Self-propagating- A ripple effect is created when those who benefit use the READ Center’s platform and network to scale knowledge, skills, and attitudes
- Sustained solutions- The creation of locally-owned solutions and institutions have enduring impact that will serve generations to come

Gifts in Your Will
Typically, there are four ways charitable giving can be included in one’s will:
- Monetary Gift: This bequest involves leaving a specific sum of money to a designated recipient.
- Remainder Gift: This gift refers to leaving all or a portion of what remains of your estate after any monetary and specific gifts, along with expenses, have been settled.
- Designated Gift: A designated gift is when you leave a particular item or asset, such as real estate, bank funds, or corporate shares.
- Conditional Gift: A conditional gift only becomes active if your primary beneficiary or beneficiaries do not outlive you.
Gifts by Beneficiary Designation
By naming READ Global as a beneficiary of your assets, such as a retirement plan, life insurance policy or brokerage account, you can help READ expand its impact while reducing or eliminating taxes and probate fees.
To designate READ as a beneficiary, reach out to your bank, retirement plan administrator, insurance provider, or financial institution to request a beneficiary designation form. Alternatively, you may be able to log in to your account and update your beneficiary details online.
Giving Now
If you have an IRA and are 70 ½ or older, you may be able to donate tax free from your IRA to READ Global, using a qualified charitable distribution (QCD). A QCD can satisfy part or all of your required minimum distribution (RMD), reducing your taxable income while making a meaningful impact to READ’s work.
