Mr. Chhatra Bahadur Khatri

Executive Director

Chhatra Bahadur Khatri has been serving as Executive Director for READ Nepal since October 2020. Chhatra has served as Program Director for READ Nepal from Jan 2014 through September 2018 nearly five years. Prior to 2014, he held various roles with READ Nepal, starting as the Monitoring & Evaluation Officer in 2011, and then  promoted as Business Development Manager in 2012 to oversee the sustaining enterprises.

Prior to READ Nepal, Chhatra worked with  Micro Enterprise Development Program (MEDEP) for poverty alleviation, a joint initiation of Nepal Government & UNDP for over 10 years in multiple positions from mid-2001 to mid-2011.  He worked with the Local Governance Program for two years from 1999 to 2000. Most recently, he held a managing role with the Karuna Foundation from October 2019 to September 2020 and led livelihood initiatives under the disability prevention and rehabilitation program implemented by the provincial government of Nepal. Chhatra also brings project evaluation experience as a team leader on behalf of the Social Welfare Council (SWC) Nepal as a short term assignment in mid-2019.


Mr. Chinkaji Shrestha

Deputy Director

Chin Kaji is READ’s longest serving employee and is currently the Deputy Director! He has been worked various roles with READ Nepal, and most recently served as Head of Field Operation since January 2017. He served as Program Officer from January 1, 2015, as the Field Officer from January 2009 until the end of December 2014, as Field Coordinator from 2004 to 2008, as an Assistant Field Coordinator from 2002 to 2004 and as volunteer for more than four years since 1998. Since then, he has been working with rural communities advocating the READ model and finding suitable communities for constructing READ libraries. He is responsible for mobilizing communities; providing support to the Library Management Committees (LMC) throughout the entire lifecycle of program implementation and setting up of the READ center. He is also responsible for operations of READ Nepal, training the local communities on Library Science Management, facilitating on resolving if conflict arises at community level, carrying out READ programs at field level and support on hosting donors during READ Nepal visit.


Ms. Kabita Shrestha

Head of Administration & Finance

She joined READ Nepal as Head of Admin and Finance from August 2020. She is a Chartered Accountant with extensive experience of 12 years in statutory/internal audit, financial advisory services and various special assignments like formulation of financial & monitoring policies,  risk assessment  and evaluation of internal control systems, due diligence  for  various sectors INGO, NGOs, Insurance Companies and Bank and Financial Institutions, Public & Private Companies  in Nepal and  India.

She holds a Masters’ Degree in Economics from Tribhuwan University in Nepal.
