Dearest Supporters & Friends,
I hope you and your families are all doing well and staying safe and healthy during these challenging times. As the pandemic has disrupted almost every aspect of society around the globe, I am immensely proud of the READ teams in Bhutan, India and Nepal that have quickly adapted their programming and launched new efforts to address urgent community needs that have arisen as a result of the COVID-19 crisis.
Please keep an eye out for emails from us in the coming weeks that will share their inspiring work. I am writing today to share some personal news. After 10 years serving as Executive Director of READ Global, I will be stepping down at the end of July 2020. Leading this organization has been the highlight of my career. I have been privileged to experience first-hand the transformative change that happens when community members work together and have access to the resources and opportunities that a READ Center makes possible.
I am delighted to announce that I will be joining the READ Global board of directors, so I can continue to further READ’s mission and support our new leader, Sanjana Shrestha, who will step into the role of Executive Director of READ Global beginning on August 1, 2020.
Sanjana is an inspiring leader who has been a part of the READ family for more than 15 years, serving as Country Director of READ Nepal for nearly a decade during a period of pivotal growth and transformation. Sanjana has extensive experience implementing READ’s model and has been a passionate global advocate for READ’s community-driven and sustainable approach. She has lived and breathed READ’s work for most of her professional career.
Sanjana and I will start working together on May 1 to ensure a smooth leadership transition.
We will be launching a special fundraising campaign later this month, detailing READ Global’s strategic priorities for the next few years and sharing stories of how READ teams and READ Centers are rising to the occasion to provide new kinds of support to their communities during these challenging times. We are grateful for all you have done for READ through the years and hope you will join in showing support for Sanjana as she takes the helm of this amazing organization! I look forward to continuing to work alongside my colleagues at READ through July and then joining the READ Global board of directors.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.
