READ Country Director Karma Lhazom looks forward to the improvements the funding will make on every level – from economic to personal – explaining, “Providing women with necessary skills to earn family income will boost their confidence and allow them to earn the respect of their community members.”

Karma also elaborated on the impact that equipping 90 women with livelihood skills can make, saying, “The women who undergo the training will train other women in their respective communities. The end goal is to form a network of women who contribute to their family incomes and the economy. In the end, this will spark a sense of entrepreneurship in the rural villages.”

READ is honored to receive this grant. We are committed to piloting a successful program over the next 12 months, and look forward to the possibility of future partnerships with the Australian High Commission.
